The goal of this blog is to finally give parents a way to keep up to date with what is happening at the wing level of cadet programs. Also to maintain a repository where cadets don’t have to worry about having deleted “that email about Encampment” they needed. The one with the cost and the dates and the application procedure, you know the one. It happens all the time, not just to cadets, but to everyone. This method of communication eliminates that problem.

A bonus of having a blog instead of an email list, is that there is a commenting ability. Above each post you will find a hyperlink (in blue) that says, “LEAVE A COMMENT”. Anyone may do so, cadet, senior member or parent. They can ask a question, leave an encouraging note, make a comment, give advice, share concerns or any number of other things. All comments are moderated, but should appear quickly during activities and every day or so when there isn’t an activity going on (when I check my email!). This is solely to avoid inappropriate comments and for no other reason. We will be making every effort to respond in a timely manner to all comments.

On that same tack, during activities you will find photos, explanations and stories about what the cadets are doing. After arriving home cadets can save the pictures they want, show them to friends or go over them with parents, without having to carry home crumpled news letters that cost and arm and a leg to print and are most often found stuck to the inside of a washing machine, usually in tiny pieces. During the activities the posts should be coming at the rate of about 3 per day, morning, afternoon and evening.

There are 3 ways to keep track of the blog and announcements and information posted on it.

1. Simply save it in your favorites.
2. Along the right side of the blog there is an email subscription box. Simply put in your email address and click the confirmation link in the email it sends you.
3. Subscribe to the RSS feed, found at the top of the blog over on the right side. There is one for posts and another for comments.

It is my hope that this medium will prove more useful and have better results than the current email list serve. One of the many improvements to the cadet program happening under the current administration is greater transparency. I think this is a step in the right direction.
